The challenge

The museum wants to keep their collection visible while it is closed and under renovation, starting in 2019. One of the ways they want to achieve this is by presenting their collection online. This is the objective of this assignment: proposing a new and creative way for the museum to (digitally) present their collection during the renovations. How can we emulate the experience of a real museum visit? Can we convince people, who normally don’t visit museums, to digitally visit the museum? Can we connect the online and offline experience?

Concept

Our idea was to create links between the museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and the city of Rotterdam through art. Don’t think about the big and well known locations but rather the small locations that represent the Rotterdam-feel to the cosmopolitan. On paintings, spread throughout the city, people can find QR-codes which guide people to certain locations. These locations can be saved as tickets in a digital suitcase which can in turn be shared on social media.
